What would October be without a twisted, deranged Hangman story from the ironically-named Pep Comics? Last year we saw the Hangman battle a rejected Tod Browning/Lon Chaney protagonist and a guy dressed as a bird. Now we have a veritable slasher film on paper, featuring a villain also dressed as a bird, but taking his theme from Edgar Allan Poe.
As usual with these Hangman stories, there are tons of unlikeable characters, a killer who comes off as more sympathetic than the hero, and lots of unintended humor. Dig that Bob Fujitani double-page splash too! It’s easily on par with the ones done by Simon & Kirby.
From Pep Comics #35, enjoy.
Wow.
