I had a whole long comment written out...Oh, for...! I had a whole long comment written out here, and then Google swallowed it. Sonnomabeach.
Oh, well, I can only be that eloquent once. Suffice it to say, it boiled down to three points:

1: Hey, one of my posts got quoted! Awesome!

2: Yeah, s_d has kind of become a nightmarish parody of itself these days. I was pretty into the community while I was part of it, and I still read the posts, but if they hadn't kicked me out, I'm not sure if I'd still be a member at this point.

3: Now for the more mercenary bit. I was wondering, man, as a fellow Golden Age enthusiast/poster, do you have any Green Lantern stories featuring the Gambler in your stockpile that you wouldn't mind posting (or already have)? I ask because I've been thinking of including him in a Top Ten episode, but I have a policy of not using any characters in my show that I haven't read at least one story featuring, and for the life of me, I can't find any Gambler stories on the 'Net, nor any readily available hard copy with him (that I could afford, anyway).

No problem if you don't; I just thought I'd ask. Yeah, I was originally going to have #2 as #1, but I didn't want Hefner to see it and I think I was doing this just for him (which might get him in trouble).

The funniest part about the 'lame' thing is that people still use the word all the time on there when bashing whatever creator is unpopular at the moment. For all of their supposed dislike of "edgy neckbeard humor", they sure love using 4Chan terms like 'butthurt", "fee-fees", "_ fag", "white knight", "baaaawwww" etc. They can say it's "reclamation" all they want, but it's obviously just them trying to be hip.

And yeah, there are definitely some great posters there, and I enjoyed your write-ups of Dixon's Robin mini.

And I did get your email, I just couldn't think of anything to say besides just thanks. I'm planning on doing a foreign comics month sometime in the future, and that will definitely keep my list from being all British and Canadian along with some of the few manga series I read. So...thanks!100Aliaseshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10493166549015264137noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3499889536991306503.post-89610329257710353802014-01-18T09:17:03.068-08:002014-01-18T09:17:03.068-08:00Well, this was certainly entertaining. It's what set both Hefner and his wife Henchgirl on their self-imposed exile from S_D, though Hefner's admitted that he still occasionally browses stuff on there.

The rest, I've never even heard of, but I kinda gloss over anything that's not tagged "Batman". The "lame" thing struck me as especially over-the-top (I'd always thought of it as one of those outdated slurs like "moron", where everyone uses it as an insult to the point where its original, serious meaning has long been forgotten, and the scientific/medical community has long since found other words to replace it).

Still, I occasionally write posts there reviewing various interesting moments in Batman history, largely because I'm almost guaranteed some kind of feedback there. Not all of it is decent, but it's better than nothing.

(BTW, did you get the last email I sent over? The one about the TLH review and the manga recs and everything?)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
